Detention Center Release Destinations
The Harrison County Sheriff operates the county jail in the Harrison County Law Enforcement Center. A departure can be a true discharge into the community after bond, a court order, completion of a local sentence, or placement on probation. It can also be a move to another custodian. The jail houses people for other counties, so some bookings end when the person returns to the county responsible for the case. A state commitment can move a sentenced person to MODOC. A supported warrant or federal matter may send the person elsewhere.

Request the booking sheet, booking and release timestamps, release or disposition code, release authority, open transfer destination, related case number, detainer disposition to the extent open, and booking photograph if needed. Missouri Revised Statutes § 610.024 supports separation of open material from closed parts where feasible. Ask for electronic delivery and a cost estimate before chargeable work starts.
Under Missouri § 610.023, the custodian must act as soon as possible and no later than the end of the third business day after receiving the request. That deadline is for a response, not guaranteed final production. Section 610.026 controls allowable copying and research fees. The Sheriff warns that ordinary email is not secure, so leave out needless sensitive data.
Harrison Detention Center Facts
The current official detention page says the jail is in the basement of the Law Enforcement Center, was built in 2004, and holds 46 inmates. It also says the facility houses prisoners for other counties. Bethany Police and a Probation and Parole office share the same building, but their legal records remain separate from the Sheriff’s jail record.
A Sheriff history page gives an earlier construction year and a capacity of 42, while also identifying Harrison and Gentry County prisoners. Those figures should not be merged with the current operational page. The more recent detention page controls current capacity copy. The conflict is useful evidence that source date and purpose matter even among official pages.
The jail page also says mail or other incoming items for someone no longer in custody are returned rather than forwarded. That practice can show only that the facility will not deliver the item. It is not a safe way to test release, and it cannot distinguish community discharge from transfer.
Other-County Harrison Jail Releases
Holding people for other counties makes agency ownership central to a Harrison County Detention Center record. The jail can physically hold a person whose arresting agency, charge, or case belongs elsewhere. When Harrison custody ends, the person may return to that county rather than enter the Harrison County community. A release timestamp should therefore be paired with the arresting-agency field and the case county.

Bethany Police shares the Law Enforcement Center, but no official source identified a separate long-term municipal jail or a separate released-person portal. A Bethany arrest booked into the Harrison County Detention Center uses the Sheriff’s roster and booking number for the first custody check. The related case may remain in a municipal division or another court after the jail record drops from public view.
Ask which agency booked and held the person. That question prevents a search from being sent to the wrong office. The Sheriff confirms the jail episode. The court confirms the case action. Bethany Police may hold its own arrest or incident material, but the shared address does not merge the agencies or create one combined release file.
Harrison Release Versus MODOC Transfer
No MODOC prison is located in Harrison County. State custody still matters because a sentenced Harrison County person can leave the jail for a state diagnostic or correctional center elsewhere. The interactive search excludes discharged offenders. A negative result cannot prove that a former state offender was never held or has just been released.
